BioScience in Oregon:
Oregon has over 800 bioscience companies and 13 life science research institutions, generating $2.5B in annual revenues, with more than 9,000 employees in the private sector and 2,000 in the research sector.

There is a confluence of bioscience, software, semiconductor, medical informatics and display technology in Oregon and specifically in the Portland metro area.  The medical device sector represents the largest cluster of bioscience firms in the state, including electro-medical and electro-therapeutic apparatus, medical equipment and supplies, surgical and dental instruments, and wound treatments.


Life Sciences in Washington:
Washington State's bioscience cluster is the fifth largest in the nation with more than 30,000 individuals working for 200 companies, nonprofits and research institutions. We are the largest recipient of federal monies for basic and applied research and our industry is comprised of world-class research institutions and innovative companies.
